Sandford’s Bakery opened in June 1981, the property was previously run by Mr & Mrs Warne as a greengrocers and florist. Their daughter, Mary Warne, went to work in London at the age of 18 where she met her husband Nick Lovering, a trained chef and baker. The couple married and moved to Great Torrington, and with the help of Mary’s parents and sister, turned the premises into Sandford’s Bakery. In June 2008, Amy, the eldest daughter of Nick and Mary joined the bakery team, making Sandford’s a business spanning three generations.
