We are a newly-established West Country business specialising
in antiques and collectables bought in French open-air markets.
These markets, vide greniers (lit. "attic emptyings")
and brocantes (lit. "cash deals") are very much
a feature of small-town life in France. We lived in the
Limousin, SW France between Angouleme and Limoges. Over
three years we have trawled these open-air markets for interesting
bits and pieces and have now come back to offer them for
sale - not all of them, for we cannot bear to part with
some! We will also be selling cards craftwork and jewellery.
The shop at 8 Fore St is a listed building and our renovations
have uncovered more of its long history - the wall next
to the Sorting Office has been uncovered, revealing a 17th
century fireplace which we will leave for all to see. The
wall itself has been lime-plastered and lime-washed in traditional
fashion. Arches, flagged floors, ancient oak beams and such
remain to delight the eye - do come and see even if you
don't want to buy anything. History is, after all, our freely
held heritage.
Please visit our website where you can browse (and buy!)
a selection of our stock online or ask us to look for something
in particular for you.
